For the Love of Silt

As an experimental printmaker and etcher, I am fascinated by the unique properties of silt combined with ink on paper.

The silt and other organic materials needed for my printmaking originate from the tidal areas of a unique part of the Wadden Sea, called Eems and Dollard - close to where I live and work.

Black silt

Green algae

Blue sea clay

Yellow rapeseed

- all local heroes providing substance and color to my representation of the coastal surroundings.

NO SEAS / no sé also means “I don’t know” in Spanish — a fitting reflection of the unpredictable results in my work.
Often I can’t repeat a print or fully explain how it happened. I was simply in motion, and the print emerged.
